I love being self employed, I actually do. I love creating, I love working flexible hours (well, flexible most of the time), I love not having to put my makeup on because I'll be at home and no one will see me, I love the pleasure people get from my sweet treats.
What I don't love however is the input others seem to think they should have in your business.....without you even asking
'You should do this'
'Try doing that'
'You know what you need'
And so on.
Without a kick starter, a sugar daddy or massive borrowing, Cupcake & Co has grown and evolved slowly and steadily through hard work and dogged determination. There have been times when I've cried, stomped my feet, wanted to give up and had a hissy because I couldn't buy what I wanted when I wanted it. Times when putting up a gazebo in the cold wind and rain and getting soaked through was the start to a long days work. Times when without support and help from my son Jack and our fellow street food traders I'd have probably just gone home.
Well, yesterday things took another step forward and I am so proud and excited to announce our new arrival. She's French, she's spent her life to date serving baguettes to vineyard workers and I'm more than a little in love with her. Ladies and gentleman I give you Brigitte Bordeaux!
